'I will fulfill your dream...'

Although the elder brother has fallen, his dreams, ideals and the path he chose are quietly continued by his younger sister with all her gratitude and pride.

Time of temporary recruitment and job assignment for Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dien

“Brother! Rest in peace, the Fatherland remembers your name. My family and I are always proud of you. You will always be our great brother, our parents' filial son. I will fulfill your dreams and ideals on your behalf!”, that was the message of Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Thuy Dien (Staff Department, Tay Ninh Provincial Police) sent to her brother who sacrificed for his duty. That was also a word of encouragement for her to continue her brother's unfinished path.

Born into a farming family, Dien and her siblings' childhood was closely linked to the hard-working days of their parents. Among the three siblings, Nguyen Xuan Hao soon realized his dream of becoming a People's Public Security officer.

But then his journey was unfinished. At 4:50 p.m. on April 21, 2023, while performing the task of arresting drug traffickers on Provincial Road 824 (in Hamlet Moi 2, My Hanh Nam Commune, Duc Hoa District (old)), he died when he was hit by a truck of the subjects. The Ministry of Public Security decided to promote comrade Nguyen Xuan Hao from Major to Lieutenant Colonel. In May 2023, the Prime Minister signed a decision to award a Certificate of Merit to martyr Nguyen Xuan Hao. In addition, he was also posthumously awarded the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal by the President.

The day Mr. Hao died was the day Ms. Dien's whole family collapsed. That loss is something that nothing can compensate for. With regret, gratitude and pride, Ms. Dien decided to apply to join the police force to continue her brother's unfinished dream. "It was not an easy journey, the only thing I brought with me was faith in the Party, the Fatherland and in my brother - the one who chose this path with all his ideals" - Ms. Dien said.

Implementing the policy of the Ministry of Public Security on selecting Ms. Dien into the People's Public Security force, through the temporary recruitment process, on June 18, 2025, the Director of Long An Provincial Police (now Tay Ninh Province) approved the Decision to officially select Ms. Dien into the People's Public Security force and conferred the rank of Senior Lieutenant.

Having worked in the State environment before, Ms. Dien has a basic foundation in style and discipline. However, the environment of the People's Public Security Forces is a more rigorous training journey. With the encouragement and enthusiastic help of superiors and teammates, along with her constant efforts, she has overcome many difficulties.

Ms. Dien confided: “When I put on the People's Public Security uniform, I not only feel honored and proud, but also clearly see my great responsibility. Entering the industry at middle age, being a woman, working far from home, the role of a wife and mother requires me to make double the effort. But with the effort to learn from my senior colleagues, I have been able to balance both roles, completing my professional duties well and preserving my family.”

Now, every day working in the green uniform of the People's Public Security Forces, Ms. Dien always keeps in mind that she must live up to her brother's sacrifice, the expectations of the industry, and the trust of the people.

With will, gratitude and responsibility, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Dien is continuing her brother's unfinished dream, contributing to building a better society from the silent sacrifices of her predecessors./.
