According to statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's exports of wood and wood products to the US market in June 2025 reached 778.3 million USD, up 9.4% over the same period last year. In the first 6 months of this year, the export turnover of this group of products to the US market reached 4.6 billion USD, up 11.6% over the same period in 2024.

Regarding the structure of export items to the US, statistics up to the end of May 2025 show that wooden furniture is the main item, accounting for 85.7% of export turnover to this market.

In particular, wooden frame chairs led the way with a turnover of nearly 1.2 billion USD, up 14.9%. Wooden frame chairs are in the group of products with high growth, ranking 4th in growth rate among wooden furniture exported to the US.

Next, living room and dining room furniture and bedroom furniture had export turnover of 793.1 million USD and 664 million USD respectively.

In addition to wooden furniture, in the first 5 months of 2025, there were a number of other items in the structure of wood and wood products exported to the US such as: wood, boards and flooring reaching 377.2 million USD; wooden doors reaching 14.3 million USD; fine art wooden furniture reaching 11.2 million USD...

In the group of wood and wood products exported to the US, only wooden doors recorded a negative growth of 1%, the rest increased from 5.1-54.2% depending on the item.

“The Import-Export Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) assessed that although global trade is strongly affected by US tax policies and the trend of shifting supply chains, Vietnam's exports of wood and wood products to the US still recorded positive growth in the first half of 2025.

This result reflects the ability of Vietnamese enterprises to quickly and flexibly adapt to increasingly strict technical barriers and tariffs from the US. At the same time, it shows the potential for stable consumption and signs of recovery in furniture demand in this market.

However, the wood export industry to the US still faces many challenges such as reciprocal taxes, increasingly strict traceability requirements, and the risk of trade investigations if it does not strictly comply with regulations on origin and technical standards.

This requires wood industry enterprises to continue investing in processing technology and strictly control the supply chain to maintain their position in this key export market.
