Marcus Rashford given Barcelona legend Thierry Henry's shirt number

(Dan Tri) - Striker Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on a one-year loan deal, after he failed to gain the trust of coach Ruben Amorim at Man Utd.

To join Barcelona, striker Marcus Rashford accepted a 50% pay cut from his current salary at Man Utd (down to £8.6 million compared to his £16.9 million annual salary at Old Trafford).

The England striker has signed a one-year contract with the Nou Camp side with an option to buy. According to Talksport , Rashford becomes the first English player since Gary Lineker in 1986 to sign for Barcelona and will wear the number 14 shirt.

The 27-year-old will follow in the footsteps of legends such as Thierry Henry, Javier Mascherano, Michael Laudrup and Ronald Koeman to wear the number at the Nou Camp. Other recent players to wear the number include Joao Felix, Philippe Coutinho and Malcom.

Speaking at his transfer unveiling, Rashford said: "I always try to be decisive, fast and dynamic. I like beautiful football.

I have always loved watching Barcelona since I was a kid, like most Barcelona fans. To play here would be a great pleasure for me. I am very excited. This is everyone's dream club, they win big trophies. What the club represents means a lot to me.

I feel at home and that's a big reason why I decided to come to Barcelona because it's a family place and a good place for good players to show their skills."

After Rashford officially joined Barcelona, he is expected to join the Nou Camp team on a pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea (against Seoul on July 31 and Daegu on August 4).
