The 5-room wooden stilt house of Mr. Hoang Chien Cong’s family – the only son of martyr Hoang Van Bui, in Tong Pang village, Lam Thuong commune, Luc Yen district, former Yen Bai province, now Lao Cai province, was built nearly 40 years ago. After many years of use, the house has deteriorated and is no longer safe.
Earlier this year, under a project to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households and families with housing difficulties, his family received 60 million VND to build a house. This amount, combined with the family's savings and loans, has helped to repair the house to be spacious, clean, and safe during the rainy season.

Mr. Hoang Chien Cong shares his joy at having a new house.
Mr. Hoang Chien Cong shared: "Since receiving information about support for building a house, my family has been very excited. Thinking about the scene when coming home from work is tiring, but having a spacious and more prosperous house now makes me feel secure and less sad. Now my family will focus on doing business to develop the family economy ."
In Na Ken – Nam Tro village, Mr. Nong Thien Mac, a 1/4-class disabled veteran, and his family have just inaugurated a new, spacious stilt house. The house is the result of his efforts to overcome difficulties, along with the attention and support of the State, local authorities and people.
Having fought in the B4 and B5 battlefields in Quang Tri - Thua Thien from 1971 to 1975, Mr. Mac was wounded twice, carrying many war consequences. Returning after the country's reunification, he struggled with pain many times when the weather changed. However, with the encouragement of the Party Committee, the government and local organizations, he was determined to overcome his circumstances and constantly strive to improve. Last May, thanks to the support of 60 million VND from the State, along with his family's savings and the help of local people, he built his dream stilt house - clean, beautiful and sturdy.

Mr. Nong Thien Mac, a 1/4 disabled veteran in Lam Thuong commune, has a spacious stilt house.
Mr. Mac emotionally shared: "This is very meaningful, a motivation to encourage the family's efforts. Secondly, it shows the kindness of the Party, the State, and the community towards us - the soldiers who directly fought in the fierce battlefield. When there is a new house, my family as well as all other policy families will certainly make more efforts, because we have a place to settle down and make a living, determined to build the country, build the homeland, the village, and build an increasingly better social community".
Implementing the project to eliminate temporary houses in the commune in 2025, Lam Thuong commune, Lao Cai province (merged from Khanh Thien, Mai Son, Lam Thuong, Tan Phuong communes, Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province) has supported 58 households to repair and build new houses, including 18 houses of war invalids and sick soldiers, policy families, with a total implementation cost of nearly 3.1 billion VND.
Mr. Hoang Van Coi, Vice Chairman of Lam Thuong Commune People's Committee, said that taking care of people with meritorious services is always a top political priority for the commune. Housing support not only helps people "settle down", but is also a way to arouse the spirit of self-reliance and the desire to rise up of households. The commune also identifies taking care of people with meritorious services as a long-term, extensive task, from the heart to action, with many forms suitable for each specific situation.

The 5-room stilt house of Mr. Hoang Chien Cong, son of martyr Hoang Van Bui, has just been renovated to be spacious and clean.
"The local government is very interested in implementing policies for people with meritorious services to the country, especially wounded soldiers and relatives of martyrs' families. During holidays and Tet, they visit and encourage. In particular, in the process of eliminating temporary houses for policy households and meritorious people, the entire political system of the commune has participated, mobilizing people, relatives and brothers to help build houses. In the coming time, Lam Thuong commune will continue to regularly visit, help, monitor, encourage and share with families of meritorious people - especially those with many difficulties," Mr. Coi shared.
The newly built houses have become a spiritual support for families with preferential policies to work and produce with peace of mind, "settle down and make a living", and together build their villages and homelands to become increasingly prosperous and strong.
