The province currently has 1,179 cooperatives and 6 cooperative unions. In recent times, the provincial Cooperative Union has increased propaganda activities on collective economy ; mobilized farmers to join together to establish new cooperatives. Provided guidance on building product brands, promoting trade, finding product consumption markets, as well as organization methods, operation methods, and negotiation skills for key officials of cooperatives. At the same time, represented and protected legitimate interests; provided advice, support, training, and trade promotion for members, contributing to helping cooperatives overcome limitations and weaknesses for development.

Mr. Le Huy Phong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, informed: Along with propaganda, we organize conferences of founding members to establish cooperatives; survey, grasp and evaluate the operation situation of cooperatives and Cooperative Unions operating under the Law on Cooperatives 2023. Develop a policy dialogue plan for cooperative development in agricultural and non-agricultural fields to grasp the needs; remove difficulties for cooperatives during their operations.
In the past 6 months, the Cooperative Union has organized 5 conferences to promote the establishment and establishment of new cooperatives in Van Ho district; supported the establishment of 29 cooperatives in the province. Surveyed, grasped the operational situation and inspected and evaluated the implementation of the Law on Cooperatives and the compliance with the provisions of the law of cooperatives and the Cooperative Union in Moc Chau town and Van Ho, Mai Son, Yen Chau, Thuan Chau, Quynh Nhai districts. Organized and participated in 3 conferences to promote trade of cooperative products in the provinces: Quang Ninh, Bac Lieu and Hanoi City; coordinated with the Social Policy Bank of the districts to disburse loans to 10 cooperatives with a total amount of 5 billion VND to invest in expanding the scale of production and service business.
With specific orientations and support, cooperatives have expanded their links in operations, contributing to promoting production and business in various fields, especially promoting agricultural and rural development; applying high technology; maintaining the supply chain of safe agricultural and aquatic products, improving product quality to serve the domestic and export markets... Many cooperatives have exploited the potential and advantages of the locality to select and build models, contributing to improving the lives of members and creating many jobs for local workers.
In Song Ma district, up to now, there are 62 cooperatives and cooperative unions that are maintaining effective operations, with 797 members. Most cooperatives are registered and operate mainly in the agricultural sector; average revenue is from 700 million VND to 1 billion VND; average income is from 4.5 - 5.5 million VND/person/month. From practice, cooperatives in the district have had rapid development steps in both quantity and quality; structure and scale of operations have changed in accordance with the economic restructuring.
Accompanying cooperatives, Song Ma district has completed the Cooperative Development Support Advisory Group. Provide information, advice, and guidance on mechanisms, policies, project programs, support, and incentives from the Central and local governments; select industries that are consistent with the province's policies and the district's strengths and potentials. From 2024 to May 2025, the district has supported product packaging labels for 5 cooperatives; mobilized nearly 1 billion VND from programs and projects to support collective economic development.
In Thuan Chau district, from 2024 to present, through the capital of the National Target Program on New Rural Development, the District People's Committee has directed the District Department of Agriculture and Environment to support the development of 2 OCOP products including: Mac Khen product of Phong Lap Agricultural Cooperative; Black chicken product of Cha May Cooperative, with a total cost of 255 million VND. Create conditions for cooperatives to participate in fairs, conferences to display, exhibit, introduce and promote OCOP products, typical agricultural products and other products of cooperatives. Up to now, the whole district has 60 cooperatives, with 1,087 members. The average revenue is about 1,080 million VND/cooperative/year; the average income of cooperative members is about 45 million VND/person/year.
With more than 10,000 hectares of water surface, Quynh Nhai farmers have developed cage fish farming. To increase the value of products, many households have joined together to establish aquatic cooperatives. Currently, the whole district has More than 4,500 fish cages, annual fish cage output reaches nearly 1,200 tons. In addition to direct consumption, fish cages in Quynh Nhai are processed into many diverse products, such as: fish cakes, fish sausages, fish floss, deboned fish, dried fish... Mr. Lo Van Nghiep, Deputy Director of Ho Quynh Aquatic Products Cooperative, shared: Currently, the Cooperative has 100 fish cages. To improve product quality, we raise fish according to VietGAP process. On average, each year, the Cooperative sells 70 tons of commercial fish; the average income of Cooperative members reaches 6 million VND/member/month.
From July 1, implementing the two-level local government model (provincial and communal levels), the Cooperative Union focuses on consulting and supporting cooperatives to provide public services according to the new model and economic activities serving the development of collective economy and cooperatives. At the same time, guiding cooperatives to develop loan projects; appraising and lending capital to cooperatives from the Provincial Cooperative Development Support Fund; contributing to production development, increasing output of goods, solving employment, increasing income for members and workers, completing criteria on forms of production organization in new rural construction, promoting local socio-economic development.
