After testing, electric car company Nio launched a rental service for a new type of battery (called "super long-range" battery in China), because the actual test distance reached 1,070km on a single charge.
All Nio vehicles support battery swapping, including customers who buy cars with batteries as well as owners who rent batteries, who can swap to "super long-life" batteries.
The rental price for the "super long battery" after the promotion period (7 days from June 1), the daily rental price is 50 yuan/day, equivalent to 180 thousand VND/day (about 5.4 million VND/month).

Nio said the first 150kWh “ultra-long range” batteries will be spread across the country, prioritizing cities on routes with high long-distance travel density.
Nio said production of its "ultra-long range" battery pack is currently in the ramp-up phase, without disclosing exact quantities.
As a new technology, the 150kWh battery pack is currently very expensive. In February 2023, Nio's chairman revealed that the battery pack costs almost as much as a Nio ET5 electric car.
The ET5 is Nio's cheapest model at the moment, with a starting price of 298,000 yuan, including battery (approximately 1 billion VND).
Nio's "ultra-long" battery is supplied by WeLion, a company that invented high-energy density solid-state batteries that store 360Wh/kg.
WeLion signed a solid-state battery supply agreement with Nio on June 30, 2023.
Solid-state batteries are now being highly regarded in a number of countries, and the Chinese government is said to have begun supporting research and development in this field.
The Chinese government may invest about 6 billion yuan in solid-state battery research and development, China Daily reported on May 29.
The news agency said six companies including CATL, WeLion, BYD, China FAW Group, SAIC Motor Corp and Geely Auto Group are likely to receive R&D support from the government.
