Philippine Airlines opens Manila – Da Nang route

DNVN - At 12:45 on July 1, Philippine Airlines flight PR585 landed at Da Nang International Airport with 193 passengers on the airline's first flight to the Han River City.

This flight also marks the official launch of Philippine Airlines' direct flight connecting Manila - Da Nang from July 1 with a frequency of 3 flights/week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and is expected to increase to 4 flights/week from November 2025, using Airbus A321 aircraft with a total of 199 seats (including 12 business class seats).

The welcoming ceremony for the first Philippine Airlines flight to Da Nang was solemnly held at the international arrivals terminal of Da Nang airport. During the event, many welcoming activities took place such as the water cannon ceremony to welcome the plane, traditional art performances, ribbon cutting ceremony, giving flowers and souvenirs to passengers, and taking souvenir photos.

On this occasion, Philippine Airlines also coordinated with Vietnam Airport Ground Services Joint Stock Company to welcome and give gifts to the first passengers on flight PR586 from Da Nang to Manila departing at 13:35 on the same day.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang, Nguyen Thi Hoai Anh, Philippine Airlines opened its flight route to Da Nang on the first day of the new Da Nang city's official operation with an expanded geographical space and ecosystem of tourism products and services.

“We are determined to continue diversifying our markets, including the nearby market of Southeast Asia, through promotional programs, especially focusing on attracting airlines to open more routes to Da Nang. The new route of Philippine Airlines has increased the total number of flights from Manila to Da Nang to 12 flights/week, contributing to the exchange of passengers between the two cities,” Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An shared.

Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall also emphasized that the airline looks forward to welcoming visitors from Central Vietnam on direct flights to Manila, where they will experience authentic Filipino hospitality, along with convenient flight networks to other cities and resort islands in the Philippines, the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan.

According to statistics from the General Statistics Office, in 2024, the total number of Filipino visitors to Da Nang reached more than 65 thousand. In the first 5 months of 2025, the total number of Filipino visitors to Da Nang reached more than 49 thousand, an increase of 2.26 times compared to the same period in 2024.
