Doctors at Hanoi Oncology Hospital apply NOSE surgical technique for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer.

Doctors applied NOSE technique to perform laparoscopic surgery to resect the colon, widely dissect the lymph nodes and resect the left hepatic segment 2, and take the specimen through the natural route (vaginal route). The surgery took place in 180 minutes, the patient had almost no pain after surgery; 6 hours after surgery, the patient could sit up; was instructed to walk, and had post-operative rehabilitation for 24 hours.

Dr. Le Van Thanh, Deputy Director, Head of General Surgery Department, Hanoi Oncology Hospital, said that this technique has many advantages for patients such as: limiting intestinal contraction, easily controlling the direction of intestinal peristalsis, mesentery and assessing the condition of the anastomosis during endoscopy, but requires the surgeon's experience... Compared to conventional laparoscopic surgery, NOSE reduces postoperative pain better, postoperative movement and recovery are faster, patients have almost no surgical scars, thus ensuring better aesthetics.
