According to information published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease , this study provides new knowledge about the relationship between vaccines and brain health. Previously, scientists discovered that people who received the flu vaccine had a 40% lower risk of Alzheimer's disease than those who did not receive this vaccine. In the latest study, scientists continued to evaluate and monitor people aged 65 and older and focused on the following vaccines: Tdap/Td (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), shingles, and pneumococcal.

The results were clear: People who received the Tdap/Td vaccine had a 30% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease; Shingles and pneumococcal vaccines showed a 25% and 27% reduction in risk, respectively.
Scientists believe the vaccine could reduce overall inflammation in the body or help the immune system fight infections that can accelerate cognitive decline.
