The model of raising specialty fish in the lake and on the river aims to help cooperatives and people quickly access scientific and technical advances and introduce spotted catfish to cage farming on the surface of the hydroelectric lake.
Raising specialty fish, specifically raising spotted catfish, will become a potential model in economic development for people living in the lakeside area of Vi Xuyen district.

The project to build a model of "Raising spotted catfish in cages on rivers and reservoirs associated with linking product consumption and developing local ecotourism in 2024" is implemented based on a contract between the National Agricultural Extension Center and the Agricultural Extension Center of Ha Giang province.
The model participates in the implementation of the Central Agricultural Extension Project in the period 2023-2025. The project is implemented on a scale of 280m3 cages with 7 participating households.
For 7 households participating in the model of raising spotted catfish combined with eco-tourism, the government will support 70% of the spotted catfish breed, food, probiotics, medicine to prevent and treat diseases...
The project also supports technical training, the cooperative provides 30% of catfish fry, food, chemicals, probiotics, disease prevention and treatment drugs and other essential supplies and benefits 100% of the products obtained from the model.

The project aims to achieve a productivity of more than 12kg of commercial spotted catfish/m3 in the coming time .
The weight of spotted catfish at harvest time is more than 1.5kg/fish and the survival rate is over 80%, the commercial fish product meets food safety quality.
The project also aims to build at least one chain linking product consumption associated with local ecotourism.
The total cost of the project to raise spotted catfish is 500 million VND. Through the project, the aim is to create a chain linking product consumption, helping people participating in the project feel secure in aquaculture, specifically raising spotted catfish, a specialty fish.
The model contributes to increasing people's income and completing the targets of new rural construction for the locality.
