Nissan's Oppama plant in Yokosuka, Tokyo, currently employs about 3,900 workers. The facility was part of a restructuring plan for the struggling Japanese automaker.
However, the idea of producing Foxconn-branded electric vehicles on idled assembly lines here could help preserve jobs for workers as well as the supplier network.

Nissan has announced plans to close seven car factories and cut 20,000 jobs worldwide , and it is also reported that the company is planning to sell the building at its Yokohama headquarters to offset the costs.
