Attending the event were comrades: Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member, former President; Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; Dang Minh Thong, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, and more than 400 delegates who are former Youth Volunteers for the Liberation of the South from provinces and cities across the country.
At the meeting, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Southern Liberation Youth Volunteers General Team Mai Quoc Binh said that the meeting gave former Youth Volunteers the opportunity to sit together and recall heroic memories of their days together on the battlefield.
According to Mr. Binh, 60 years ago, young men and women in their twenties overcame all difficulties and performed many tasks such as providing artillery shells to soldiers on the battlefield, carrying wounded soldiers from the front to the rear, and carrying rice and food to the front...
In the face of many difficulties of the fierce war, nearly 500 comrades and teammates sacrificed their lives. Mr. Binh emphasized that those were immeasurable contributions of the Youth Volunteer Soldiers of that day.

At the meeting, the former Youth Volunteer Soldiers, now with gray hair and weak legs, were happy to meet each other and recall memories of their youth.

Mr. Tran Van Manh, former Commander of the Southern Liberation Youth Volunteer Force, recalls his more than 10 years of service and fighting in the Southeast battlefield.
“We have overcome countless hardships and fierceness, always facing enemies, hunger, and disease. But with a strong will and faith in the Party, the soldiers have devoted their youth to the fight against the US to save the country,” Mr. Manh expressed.

Expressing his joy at attending the meaningful meeting, former President Nguyen Minh Triet said he was always proud of the young men and women of the Youth Volunteer Force who, in their twenties, dared to sacrifice their youth and rush into the battlefields full of bombs and bullets.
According to comrade Nguyen Minh Triet, the Youth Volunteers at that time chose a path ahead of them that was full of hardship, sacrifice, and fierce bombs, but they knew that it was the path of glory, the path that the national liberation front was calling for.
Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet hopes that former Youth Volunteers will always maintain their pride to pass on to their children and grandchildren, the younger generation to continue the tradition of their ancestors in building the country.

Coming from Ca Mau province to Ho Chi Minh City to attend the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Cam Hong (76 years old) was happy to hold hands with many comrades she had not seen for many years.
“At that time, although we were young, with determination, strong will and faith in beloved Uncle Ho, we were not afraid of any hardship,” Ms. Hong shared.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Huynh Tan Dinh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, expressed his deep gratitude to the former Youth Volunteers who were willing to sacrifice their youth and blood for the cause of national liberation and reunification.
“The silent sacrifice and selfless dedication of former Youth Volunteers contributed greatly to the great victory of Spring 1975, bringing the country together. In particular, that noble value has become a source of inspiration for generations of young people today, contributing to promoting the patriotic emulation movement and the overall development of the city,” said comrade Huynh Tan Dinh.

Comrade Huynh Tan Dinh emphasized that the Party Committee, government and people of the city are always proud and grateful for the great contributions of previous generations, especially the former Youth Volunteers for the Liberation of the South.
In 2025, the whole country and Ho Chi Minh City are facing new advantages but also many challenges. The city has been focusing on completing key tasks synchronously, always paying attention to taking care of people's lives and implementing policies for people with meritorious services.
According to Mr. Tran Van Manh, in 6 years (1965 - 1971), the Southern Liberation Youth Volunteer Force served in 18 campaigns, 641 battles, transported 23,117 weapons, food, and provisions; transferred and protected 11,615 wounded soldiers to the rear; built 8 frontline hospitals, dug 1,535 shelters, built 272 warehouses, built 214km of roads, organized 18,000 troops to cross the river and welcomed and fed 3,500 officers and soldiers.
