According to Nha Trang City People's Committee, for Luong Hoa Leachate Treatment Station (which receives part of the leachate from Ru Ri landfill), the city has proposed upgrading and renovating the Luong Hoa leachate drainage system (Vinh Luong commune) to meet the needs of collecting and treating leachate generated from both Luong Hoa landfill and Ru Ri landfill. The pipeline upgrade is expected to be completed in 2026.

Regarding the final treatment of leachate from Ru Ri landfill, the City People's Committee will first survey and calculate the preliminary amount of water generated on the area of Ru Ri landfill (about 6.66ha). At the same time, collect leachate samples during the rainy season for analysis, thereby calculating the dilution level of wastewater, considering the ability to meet the regulations on receiving sources of the Southern Wastewater Treatment Plant of the city. On that basis, develop a plan to renovate and upgrade existing tanks, pipes and auxiliary equipment to receive leachate from Ru Ri landfill during the rainy season.

Nha Trang City People's Committee also said that with the increasing amount of domestic solid waste that needs to be treated, the amount of leachate generated is increasing, investing in and upgrading the treatment system at Luong Hoa leachate treatment station is necessary to ensure hygiene and limit possible environmental incidents.

Currently, Nha Trang City People's Committee has assigned relevant departments to inspect, advise the City People's Committee, and report to the Provincial People's Committee on the investment in the Solid Waste Treatment Plant Project in Nha Trang City; clearly stating the scale, capacity, treatment technology, estimated cost and land fund suitability according to the prescribed planning.

As reported by SGGP, when it rains, leachate from the old Ru Ri landfill area flows through residential areas in 3 villages of Vinh Luong commune, then flows out to sea. At times when the tide is high, the leachate cannot drain away, rising up and pushing into the ditches around the residential area, emitting a foul smell, affecting people's lives. The amount of untreated dirty leachate flowing directly into the sea at Vinh Luong discharge gate also pollutes the marine environment, affecting aquaculture households. This situation has been happening for many years but has not been completely resolved yet.
