According to Tri Thuc - Znews , the Vietnamese athletics team will register Nguyen Thi Oanh to compete in 4 events: 1,500 m, 5,000 m, 10,000 m and 3,000 m hurdles at the 33rd SEA Games, taking place in Thailand in December.
The organizers plan to compete in the above 4 events on December 11 (1,500 m), December 13 (5,000 m), December 15 (10,000 m) and December 16 (3,000 m).
If there are no last-minute changes, Vietnam's number one female track and field athlete is fully capable of successfully defending her four gold medals - repeating her achievement at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia when she became the first Vietnamese track and field athlete to win four individual gold medals at a SEA Games.
According to the Vietnam Athletics Federation, the competition schedule can still be changed to suit the actual situation and will be officially finalized in a technical meeting - usually taking place 2 days before the official competition.
Nguyen Thi Oanh, born in 1995 in Bac Giang (now Bac Ninh). She is currently the number one female track and field athlete in Vietnam with 12 gold medals at 4 consecutive SEA Games (from 29 to 32). Currently, Nguyen Thi Oanh has no rival in Southeast Asia in the 1,500 m, 5,000 m and 3,000 m hurdles - all winning gold medals in the last 3 SEA Games.
In Vietnamese athletics alone, Nguyen Thi Oanh also holds 5 national records, including: 5,000 m (15 minutes 46.11 seconds), 10,000 m (33 minutes 13.23 seconds), 3,000 m hurdles (9 minutes 43.83 seconds), half marathon (21 km, 1 hour 13 minutes 22 seconds), and full marathon (42.195 km, 2 hours 39 minutes 49 seconds).
At the 2025 National Athletics Championship in mid-August in Da Nang , the runner born in 1995 had no difficulty in winning a hat-trick of gold medals in the 1,500 m, 5,000 m and 3,000 m obstacle course events.
