Real Betis reveal Antony's future

Ramon Alarcon, CEO of Real Betis, revealed that negotiations are going well and the club hopes to complete the Antony deal before the summer transfer window closes.

Time is running out for Betis, with less than five days left to complete the Antony deal.

In an interview with El Pais , Alarcon updated the situation: “We can say that the Antony deal is complicated, but the club is trying. The negotiation process with Manchester United is going quite effectively."

Earlier this week, the Telegraph revealed that Manchester United and Real Betis had reached an agreement for Antony to return to Spain on loan for another season. Antony is currently in Manchester with his agent and family, waiting for Manchester United and Betis to finalize the deal before September 1.

However, the Real Betis CEO also added: "In the final stages of the transfer market, every negotiation is always difficult, let's see if we can achieve something positive."

Real Betis hope to bring Antony back to the club on loan, with an option to buy or a permanent deal. However, Manchester United still prefer an immediate permanent transfer.

This is the reason why negotiations become complicated in the final stage of the 2025 summer transfer market. Manchester United have even started preparing for the scenario of the 25-year-old player staying at the club this summer.

However, the goodwill from Real Betis is making Manchester United give in. Antony has two years left on his contract with MU, which runs until June 2027. He expressed his desire to play for Betis at least next season, in order to maintain his form and compete for the opportunity to attend the 2026 World Cup.
