The A80 Anniversary and parade are expected to attract about 45,000 people, along with more than 1 million visitors to the capital during the holiday. This is a huge number, posing many risks of accidents, medical incidents, and community epidemics.
In recent days, the whole country has been joyfully welcoming the major events taking place on the occasion of A80, especially the event of general training and preliminary rehearsal of the parade and march of the forces at Ba Dinh Square. Not only the people of Hanoi , but also people from many provinces and cities have flocked to the areas near Ba Dinh Square and the streets where the parade passes. Everyone wants to have a good position to admire the beautiful, heroic steps of the army.

Many people had left the day before to "reserve a spot", or early in the morning had laid out mats and tarps to wait. Many people, including the elderly and children, could not "stay" and had health problems.
To ensure the health safety of delegates, guests, staff serving the Anniversary Ceremony, parade, and people participating in the event, the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security , and the Hanoi People's Committee, directed medical examination and treatment facilities to ensure emergency care and medical examination and treatment during the entire duration of the Anniversary Ceremony. Accordingly, medical facilities have organized regular emergency care, medical examination and treatment and health care for delegates, guests, staff serving the Anniversary Ceremony, parade, and people participating in the event.
Due to the large number of participants, it is very difficult for ambulances to enter the streets where parades and marches take place. Therefore, the Ministry of Health has arranged medical teams and mobile ambulances to be on duty in medical tents on the roads to promptly handle cases requiring emergency care or primary health care.
Medical teams provided first aid and directed people to the nearest medical facility if the situation could not be resolved on the spot.

The A80 event rehearsal will take place at 6:30 tomorrow morning (August 30), and from today, on some streets, people have already reserved seats. With people spending all day on the streets, even all night outdoors, waiting for the rehearsal and the parade to pass, what should people do to ensure their health?
Speaking to CAND Newspaper reporters, Dr. Chu Duc Thanh, in charge of the emergency medical tent of the 19-8 Hospital at Ba Dinh Square, said that before participating in the parade, people should pay attention to some experiences such as: Eat and drink enough, bring snacks and drinks, avoid dehydration and hypoglycemia. Do not use stimulants such as alcohol, energy drinks, etc.
People with underlying diseases (cardiovascular, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, allergies, epilepsy...) should bring their current medications.
The elderly, children, pregnant women, and people with poor health should consider carefully when participating in crowded events, especially in hot weather or cold rain.

During the event, Dr. Thanh recommends that people wear loose clothing, hats, sun protection, and masks when necessary; bring a raincoat or a light umbrella as a backup.
Drink water regularly, avoid standing in one place for long periods of time under the hot sun. Do not jostle or push, especially in crowded areas to prevent the onset of underlying diseases or fainting or injury.
Comply with traffic control instructions from the authorities. When you see an area that is too crowded, proactively avoid it or find a safe exit in advance, pay attention or ask the authorities about the location of the nearest medical tent.

People with cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, respiratory disease, severe allergies, etc. should go with relatives to receive timely support. Do not arbitrarily use strange drugs or other people's drugs. When seeing unusual signs such as: dizziness, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, chest pain, anxiety, numbness in limbs, rash, etc., it is necessary to urgently take the patient away from crowded places and immediately notify the nearest medical staff.
In case of fainting, Dr. Thanh recommends placing the patient on their side and loosening their clothing.
If a person has a seizure, people around should help protect the head area, place a soft object such as a pillow, coat, or towel under the head to reduce the risk of strong impact. When the seizure is over, the victim can lie on his side and wipe away phlegm from his mouth. "Do not try to hold the victim tightly because it can cause broken bones or sprains. Do not put your hand or hard object into the victim's mouth while he is having a seizure," Dr. Thanh noted.

During the parade, if people have bleeding wounds, if the wound is minor, cover the wound with a towel, gauze, or clean cloth. If the wound is open and bleeding heavily or in a stream, a tourniquet should be applied above (in front of) the bleeding leg or arm.
In case of cardiac arrest, place the patient on his back on a hard surface, perform chest compressions 100-120 times/minute, combined with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation (artificial respiration, for every 30 chest compressions, give 2 mouth-to-mouth resuscitations).
Call for help from people around, call 115 or contact the nearest security or medical staff.
"Every citizen should protect their own health and that of their loved ones. Prepare carefully, maintain order, listen to instructions to join the A80 ceremony together in joy, safety and completeness," Dr. Thanh delivered the message.
