Here, the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament had the opportunity to experience the preparation of beef wrapped in betel leaves - a rustic, familiar dish in Vietnamese cuisine . Mr. Gerry Brownlee was excited about this experience and listened attentively to the KOTO chef's introduction of how to prepare the dish.


Accordingly, the ingredients are New Zealand beef combined with Vietnamese fish sauce and wrapped in heart-shaped betel leaves - an image symbolizing the close, lasting relationship between the two countries.
After the instructions, the Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament personally seasoned and rolled the lolot rolls. With his existing cooking skills, Mr. Gerry Brownlee performed the steps very skillfully, without any difficulty.


Afterwards, Mr. Gerry Brownlee and the New Zealand delegation enjoyed the prepared grilled pork patties. All members of the delegation praised the dish. They rated the dish as delicious, unique and rich in flavor, both typical of Vietnamese cuisine and evoking a close connection with high-quality agricultural products of New Zealand.

The Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament and members of the delegation also expressed their delight at experiencing a traditional Vietnamese dish right in Hanoi.

Also during this activity, Speaker Brownlee had the opportunity to meet and talk with representatives of KOTO, HopeBox, Tohe and KymViet, four social enterprises with the mission of supporting and helping people in difficult circumstances and people with disabilities in Vietnam.
