11 flooded locations after storm No. 6 in Nghe An will reopen to traffic tonight

(Chinhphu.vn) - Some locations on the national highway in Nghe An province have been partially flooded after storm No. 6 made landfall. Local road management units said they will reopen to traffic at 9:00 p.m. today (August 31).

According to the report of the Vietnam Road Administration ( Ministry of Construction ), the damage caused by storm No. 6 as of 4:00 p.m. on August 31 on the roads caused minor landslides on national highways, localized flooding, did not cause traffic jams and did not affect the road traffic infrastructure, and there is currently light rain on the route.

No traffic jams, no impact on infrastructure

Nghe An province currently has 11 flooded locations. Of which, 7 locations are flooded on national highways and 4 locations on local roads. It is expected that traffic will be reopened by 9:00 p.m. the same day.

There are no traffic jams in other localities. At flooded areas, the Department of Construction of the localities has placed warning signs and arranged traffic controllers 24/7.

Regarding railways, according to a report from the Vietnam Railway Corporation , some infrastructure structures were blocked by trees and objects falling on the information and signal systems, and rocks and soil buried the railways; rain and floods washed away the roadbed in the northern railway areas and the areas affected by the storm in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces.

By the afternoon of August 31, at Km 354, 355 on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City railway line, heavy rain caused landslides and flooded the road. The unit promptly handled the situation at the scene and returned the train to normal speed. Vietnam Railways Corporation said that no further damage to infrastructure had been recorded and transportation was smooth.

Vietnam Maritime Administration reported that as of 4:00 p.m. on August 31, there were no recorded casualties or property damage caused by the storm in the maritime and inland waterway sectors.

Aviation industry operations are running normally and smoothly.
