Speaking on the sidelines of the 14th International Economic Forum "Russia-Islamic World: Kazan Forum", held in the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation on May 18, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin mentioned the plan to rebuild the city of Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine.

"When we take control of the city, we will make a plan. I was there and looked at the level of destruction... It is absolutely possible to rebuild the city. We have made preliminary budget estimates and are drawing up an action plan. When the situation allows, we will rebuild it," the Russian official said.

According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister , a group of companies is ready to rebuild the city of Bakhmut.

Bakhmut has been at the center of fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces for months. It is a major transport hub with many crossroads in Donbass, and was also a key supply point for Ukrainian troops stationed in the region when the conflict with Russia began more than a year ago.

Also on May 18, speaking at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, China's Deputy Permanent Representative Geng Shuang affirmed that Beijing did not transfer weapons to any party in the conflict in Ukraine.

"China has always pursued peace and dialogue on the Ukraine issue; we have always promoted peace negotiations. We are not involved in and are not a party to this conflict, let alone transferring weapons to any party to the conflict," Geng Shuang asserted.
