On the evening of July 15, the Indonesian team had a "destructive" victory over Brunei 8-0 in the first match of Group A of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
Although fans knew that the "island country" team completely surpassed their opponents, they could hardly imagine that U23 Indonesia could win such a big victory.
The home field advantage helped U23 Indonesia completely control the match and score an early goal in the 3rd minute. Hannan escaped dangerously down the right wing and then made a pass for Raven to tap the ball into the net, easily scoring the opening goal.
Continuing the momentum, the home team scored another goal after only 6 minutes. Jens Raven continued to score after a classy move.
The U23 Brunei defense had a nightmare day when they conceded 5 more goals by the end of the first half.
Raven scored 5 goals in just 45 minutes, Arkhan and Hannan were the other two names to score for the red team.
In the second half, despite slowing down the game, Indonesia still scored an 8th goal to end the match with a "destructive" 8-0 victory. Striker Jens Raven personally contributed 6 goals.
However, in the final minutes of the match, he had to leave the field limping, which made fans in this country worried.
This big win temporarily helped U23 Indonesia rise to the top of Group A with the same 3 points as U23 Philippines but with a better goal difference. U23 Malaysia ranked 3rd and U23 Brunei ranked last.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 29 in Indonesia with the participation of 10 teams, divided into 3 groups. The teams will compete in a round robin to calculate points, selecting the 3 group winners and 1 second-place team with the best results to enter the semi-finals.
The Vietnam U23 team is currently the defending champion of the Southeast Asian U23 Championship.
