According to the report of Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee, from June 30, the coastal road project will be put into operation. The starting point of the route connects with the coastal road project of Thai Binh province at Km 0+00 (right bank of the Red River, Giao Thien commune, Giao Thuy district). The end point connects with the coastal road project of Ninh Binh province at Km 65+580 (left bank of the Day River, sea dike of Nghia Hai commune, Nghia Hung district).
The route has the scale of a level 3 plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h; the road surface has 2 lanes for motor vehicles, 11m wide; the route has 3 medium bridges and 16 large box culverts passing through 3 districts: Giao Thuy, Hai Hau and Nghia Hung.
When the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to connect the economic and political centers of the three coastal districts. At the same time, it will connect traffic with national highways: 37B, 21, 21B; connect the provincial development axis and provincial road 490C. The route put into operation will improve connectivity, shortening the transportation distance between Nam Dinh province and neighboring provinces.
This will contribute to the completion of the coastal road network in the region; gradually complete the transport network according to the transport development plan of Nam Dinh province until 2020, with a vision to 2030. Thereby, connecting the transport network of coastal provinces with the national transport system, effectively promoting investment projects in the region that have been and are being implemented.
