Vietnam team ready to conquer the 2025 International Biology Olympiad

GD&TĐ - On the afternoon of July 17, the Ministry of Education and Training held a ceremony to send off the Vietnamese team to participate in the 36th International Biology Olympiad in 2025.

This year's International Biology Olympiad (IBO) took place from July 20 to 27 in Quezon City, Philippines, with the participation of 312 students from 78 countries and territories. The Vietnamese team had 4 contestants from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted (Hanoi), Tran Phu High School for the Gifted (Hai Phong) and Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted (Hue).

The departure ceremony is a special occasion for the students in the team to meet and listen to words of encouragement fromeducation leaders, teachers and families before officially embarking on a new journey, where they bring the intelligence, courage and aspirations of Vietnamese youth to the international intellectual playground.

Reporting on the delegation's activities in the recent past, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Thi Phuong Hoa - Lecturer at Hanoi National University of Education, Deputy Head of the Vietnamese delegation to compete in the 2025 International Biology Olympiad said: After the results of the team selection exam, Hanoi National University of Education began training the students, which has been 73 days so far, the longest training period ever.

During this time, teachers accompanied students, focused on training them in practical skills, interspersed with expanding theoretical knowledge, and organizing tests in between. Students were able to visit laboratories of universities and research institutes to improve their practical skills. During the learning process, the students made great efforts.

Representing the Olympic team, Le Hoang Kieu Anh, a 12th grade Chemistry 1 student at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, shared: I am very honored and proud to wear the team's shirt to participate in the international arena. This is also a great responsibility. I promise to maintain my will, promote the spirit of solidarity, and have the highest determination to bring home the best results.

Sending best wishes to the candidates, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management ( Ministry of Education and Training ) shared: In recent years, Vietnamese students have always achieved high results in the international Olympic arena. Especially in Biology, although it is a difficult subject, thought to be only for developed countries, Vietnamese students have always achieved high results in this subject.

The achievements are due to many factors, including creativity and efforts during the training process. This year, the team trained at many different educational institutions. For the Biology Olympiad, the practical part is extremely important. In difficult conditions, teachers have had the initiative to take advantage of the strengths of each educational and research institution. In recent years, the team's practical scores have been raised thanks to this innovation.

Believing that the Biology team will do well in the upcoming exam, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha expressed his thanks to the Departments of Education and Training, schools, especially the teachers who have guided the students during their high school years. The schools and teachers have created a solid foundation of knowledge, and the Departments of Education and Training have conducted a careful and accurate selection.

The International Biology Olympiad is one of the most prestigious and prestigious competitions for high school students around the world. In 2024, the Vietnamese team won 3 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal, placing them among the top countries in the competition. The success of the teams has contributed to raising the status of the country's education, spreading the image of Vietnamese students as intelligent, modest and full of courage.
