Actor Phu Thinh spoke out about criticism of his acting in the movie "Ghost Lights", admitting that he still has many shortcomings but will strive to improve himself.

Released on Lunar New Year 2025, the film Ghost Lamp received mixed opinions from the audience, especially about the performance of the male lead Phu Thinh.

On social media, many viewers expressed their disappointment with actor Phu Thinh's performance. Some pointed out that although it was not his first time acting, Phu Thinh still performed quite "stiffly", especially in the first scenes of the film.

However, many people think that Phu Thinh's acting is average, not as bad as the criticism.

The actor shared with PV About audience comments after the movie's release:

- Reading many comments about your acting in "Ghost Lights", how do you feel when faced with frank feedback?

When I read the frank comments from the audience, I was a bit sad because many factors did not show the role well. As an actor, trying to learn and gain experience to improve yourself is a must. Praise or criticism is the motivation for me to continue on the path of art. I will try to do better.

- With the role of Luu Dinh in the film, what challenges did you encounter in the process of building the character? Is there anything you would like to do better if you could do it again?

The role of Luu Dinh brings me many challenges from appearance, personality to culture... All of which are from the feudal period in the remote mountainous areas of the North. Born and raised in the South, I do not have much practical experience, I can only refer to and learn through images, clips and documents to transform into the character.

This was a very challenging role. The filming process also encountered many obstacles when the crew had to face floods 4 times, especially Typhoon Yagi which swept away props and sets. If I had the chance to do it again, I believe I would do better.

- Many people commented on your diction in the film. Did you undergo any pronunciation and voice training before starting the project?

I graduated from the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, so I was professionally prepared. However, for me, practical experience is the most important. I always take into account the audience's opinions and try to improve and practice to overcome my shortcomings.

- Compared to previous roles, what do you think is different about the role of Luu Dinh in "Ghost Lamp" that makes it harder for you to grasp?

As shared, the character Luu Dinh is from the feudal period in the Northern mountainous region while I was born and raised in the South. With a scholarly appearance, I am often assigned the role of a young master, a handsome man... But Luu Dinh is a completely different character, both from me in real life and from previous roles. To complete the role, I made an effort, researched the material and considered this a great challenge in my career.

- After the feedback from the audience, what plans do you have to improve your acting skills? And what have you learned from this experience?

After Ghost Light , I continue to learn and improve so that each future role brings professionalism, freshness and excitement. I just accepted a new role. In 2025, I will participate in a film project with a completely different character, Luu Dinh.
