Nearly 14 years after the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 , was released, a new film adaptation has officially begun filming at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in England.
The first image of Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter has also been revealed by the film studio. Child actor Dominic McLaughlin appears in a school uniform with his signature round glasses. Along with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, Dominic McLaughlin will be the 3 stars of the new adaptation series. They passed the casting with an extremely high "competition rate", estimated to attract more than 30,000 candidates.
Several new cast members were also announced, including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander. The series has also been confirmed to premiere in 2027 on HBO.
HBO's new version is based on the series adapted from the famous novel series by author JK Rowling, revolving around the main character, Harry Potter, along with his memorable semesters at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the fight against the dark forces led by Lord Voldemort.
Each book in the Harry Potter series will be built into a complete film season. According to Variety, the production of the first season is expected to last until spring 2026. Season 2 will be produced after a short break. The film is timed to match the growth and maturity of the child actors.
