According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), the US Department of Commerce (DOC) has just announced the results of anti-dumping tax in the 20th review (POR20) on pangasius exported from Vietnam, applicable for the period from August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023.

The 20th review (POR20) results show that 6 Vietnamese enterprises are subject to a 0% anti-dumping tax rate when exporting frozen pangasius fillets to the US. The enterprises include Can Tho Seafood, Dai Thanh Seafood, Dong A Seafood, Hung Ca 6, Nam Viet and NTSF Seafood.

In addition, the joint group including Bien Dong Seafood, Bien Dong Hau Giang Seafood and Seavina Joint Stock Company continued to be determined by DOC not to be dumping, and a 0% tax was imposed.

Notably, Vinh Hoan Company (VHC) is not on the tax exemption list because it has been excluded from anti-dumping tax from periods after 2025.

This is based on an agreement between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR) regarding the DS5368 lawsuit, which ended on January 17.

Meanwhile, businesses that do not qualify for separate tax consideration or cannot prove that they are not dumping will be subject to a general tax rate of US$2.39/kg.

According to Vasep, pangasius is the main export product of the Vietnamese seafood industry, bringing in billions of US dollars in revenue. Of which, pangasius fillets account for about 80% of total pangasius exports and the US is a key market, so tax policies here have a great impact on the entire industry.

According to Customs data, pangasius exports to the US in May 2025 reached 41 million USD, up 35% over the same period last year. In the first 5 months of the year, the cumulative turnover reached 142 million USD, up 7% over the same period in 2024.
