These days, farmers on the Moc Chau plateau are urgently harvesting crispy persimmons. Mr. Pham Van Quyet's family, Sub-zone 34, Tan Yen commune mobilized family members to focus on harvesting crispy persimmons. This crop, each tree yields from 1.5 to 2 quintals of fruit, bringing the family 400-500 million VND/ha. The results of many years of care have paid off.
Taking us to visit the persimmon garden full of fruit, Mr. Quyet shared: In 2009, the family invested 40 million, converting to grafting 80 Fuji crispy persimmon trees, a specialty fruit originating from Japan. Crispy persimmons are suitable, so the family expanded to more than 4 hectares of persimmon trees, with 1,600 trees, all of which are cared for according to VietGAP standards. With an automatic watering system, fertilizing with the right dosage, controlling pests and diseases and covering the fruit to avoid fruit flies, it keeps the fruit clean and ensures high quality. Currently, early-season crispy persimmons are priced from 60-80 thousand VND/kg depending on the size of the fruit.
Like Mr. Quyet's family, agricultural cooperatives and farmers in Tan Yen commune and Thao Nguyen ward are also actively applying safe organic techniques for caring for crispy persimmons. Thanks to that, the quality and appearance of crispy persimmons are increasingly improved. Moc Chau crispy persimmons are favored by many consumers.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Van, Director of Moc Chau Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, said: Currently, the Cooperative has more than 30 hectares of fruit trees, of which more than 3 hectares are planted with crispy persimmons. Thanks to organic cultivation, with uniform fruit quality, beautiful appearance, and sweet taste, Moc Chau crispy persimmons are favored by many consumers. The Cooperative also purchases and finds outlets for persimmons through supermarket systems, wholesale markets, and agricultural product promotion fairs inside and outside the province, helping people consume them, with prices ranging from 30,000 - 80,000 VND/kg.
The ripe persimmon season on Moc Chau plateau also attracts tourists to take photos, check-in, and immerse themselves in nature. On this occasion, on the roads of Co Do sub-area, Thao Nguyen ward, there are many tourists next to the persimmon gardens with heavy fruits that are ripening to a brilliant yellow throughout the area. Ms. Nguyen Nhat Khanh, a tourist from Hanoi , shared: Visiting the persimmon garden in Moc Chau plateau and admiring the natural scenery here, I feel relaxed and peaceful. Along with that, being able to pick the first crispy persimmons of the season to enjoy the sweet, cool, and refreshing taste, I bought them as gifts for my family and friends.

Currently, crispy persimmon trees are mainly grown in Tan Yen commune and Thao Nguyen ward, with nearly 100 hectares, the average yield is about 10 tons of fruit/ha.
