The Vietnamese box office last weekend witnessed the explosive heat of “Red Rain”. The revolutionary war-themed film reached the 100 billion VND mark after only three days of release.

According to data from Box Office Vietnam, over the weekend alone, “Red Rain” earned VND80.3 billion from 827,619 tickets/12,505 screenings. On Sunday alone, the film sold nearly 350,000 tickets/4,700 screenings nationwide, earning more than VND30 billion. This growth helped the film quickly surpass the VND105 billion mark, when entering its 4th day of screening. This is a milestone that many Vietnamese films take a week or more to reach.
A representative of Box Office Vietnam commented: “Current screenings and the upcoming screenings of “Red Rain” are all fully booked. In the next 1-2 weeks, it will be difficult for any film to shake the leading position of this work at the box office.”
Specifically at the National Cinema Center (87 Lang Ha, Hanoi ), the movie filled the theater from 9am to 11:30pm; the red flag with yellow star (reservation) filled all the screenings.

Compared to “Tunnel: Sun in the Dark” - a film with the same revolutionary war theme released on April 30, “Red Rain” shows a clear superiority in ticket sales speed. This is also a signal that Vietnamese audiences, especially young audiences, are more open to historical - war films, which were previously considered “picky viewers”.

The film is based on the famous novel “Red Rain” by writer Chu Lai. The film recreates the fierce atmosphere when tens of thousands of young soldiers had to fight in extremely difficult conditions, with blood mixed with bombs and bullets. The content not only reflects the brutal scale of war but also focuses on depicting the fate, emotions, struggles and desire to live of the soldiers.
With the spirit of loyalty to the original literary work, "Red Rain" promotes human values, praises immortal sacrifices but still puts people at the center, to see them as both ordinary and extraordinary in historical moments.
After its release, the film received many positive responses from experts, the press and audiences. Many viewers were moved by the early screening, considering it a project worth watching as the country prepares to celebrate National Day on September 2.
