According to the Urban Railway Company No. 1, from today (July 1), passengers traveling on Metro Line No. 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien will be able to use smart magnetic cards (IC Cards) to make automatic payments at all stations. This is a payment method that helps improve the quality of passenger service, diversify ticket purchasing methods and contribute to modernizing the city's public transport system.
Currently, the AFC automatic toll collection system (under CP3 package) has been deployed on the entire route, including 4 types of cards: Single-trip card, 1-day card, 3-day card and top-up card.

There are 4 types of cards in use:
Trip card (deposit 15,000 VND): Used for 1 trip on the day of issue.
1-day/3-day card (deposit 35,000 VND): Unlimited travel for 1 or 3 consecutive days from card scanning.
Top-up card (deposit 35,000 VND): Top-up amount from 10,000 VND to 5 million VND, deducted according to distance traveled.
The card can be purchased at a ticket vending machine (TVM) with cash (denominations from 1,000 - 200,000 VND). After the trip, passengers can return the card at the fare adjustment machine (FAM) to get their deposit back.
Ticket prices are regulated by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee:
One-way ticket: from 7,000 - 20,000 VND, depending on distance.
1 day ticket : 40,000 VND/person.
3-day ticket: 90,000 VND/person, unlimited trips.
Top-up tickets are deducted for the distance traveled (7,000 - 20,000 VND/trip).
IC cards have flexible validity:
Turn card : valid on the date of issue.
1 and 3 day cards: valid for 15 days from date of issue.
Top-up card: must have at least 1 transaction every 30 days to remain valid, otherwise it will be temporarily locked.
The operation of the AFC system and the increase in train trips are expected to contribute to changing public transport usage habits, promoting cashless payments, improving passenger experience, and aiming to develop a modern and civilized public transport system.
