The process of arranging administrative units and organizing the apparatus was carried out urgently and on schedule by An Giang province. Hundreds of new administrative units, agencies, departments, branches, etc. were established, on the basis of merging old units of the two provinces. Thousands of cadres, civil servants, and public employees received decisions on transfer, rotation, and appointment.

Start a new journey

The announcement ceremony of the Central Resolutions and Decisions on the merger of provincial and communal administrative units on June 30 marked the end of the old administrative units (provinces, districts, communes), and the beginning of a new development journey. There are many foundations for An Giang to maximize its resources, effectively exploit its potential and strengths, and become an important growth pole in the region and the whole country.

Following the bustling atmosphere of the "national festival", important tasks, "the beginning of the beginning" were carried out on July 1. The An Giang Provincial People's Council held its first session, not only to perfect the organization of the government apparatus, but also to lay the foundation for the synchronous, effective operation and sustainable development of the new province. In the context and new development requirements, new regulations have taken effect since July 1, especially the Law on Organization of Local Government in 2025 and regulations on decentralization, delegation of power, and strong delegation of authority from the Central to the local level. The role of the People's Council has become especially important.

The success of the session is a good start, creating favorable conditions for the Provincial People's Council to continue to operate dynamically, effectively and responsibly. Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that the tasks set for the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee in the coming time are very heavy, requiring concentration of intelligence, capacity and close coordination between levels and sectors in direction and administration. Therefore, immediately after the session, the agencies of the Provincial People's Council, Provincial People's Committee, departments, branches, localities and delegates of the Provincial People's Council need to issue operating regulations, assign specific tasks to each member; continue to innovate, strengthen discipline, order, improve the capacity and efficiency of the government apparatus. Focus on directing decisively, focusing on key points to create positive changes in all aspects of work, completing the set goals and tasks at the highest level.

“It is necessary to promote the role and responsibility of the Standing Committee of the People's Council, the People's Council committees and the provincial People's Council delegates in improving the quality of the sessions; innovating working methods; enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of supervision, examination and decision-making on important issues of the province. In their working positions, with the responsibility as a representative of the People, each delegate needs to actively and proactively study the law, clearly understand their powers and responsibilities, and be exemplary in complying with the law; regularly and closely contact voters, listen to and fully reflect their opinions and aspirations; urge and supervise the settlement of voters' petitions... contributing to improving the quality of activities of the An Giang Provincial People's Council in the coming time" - Comrade Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized.

Promoting the central role of solidarity

The new unit and local leaders have been completed and introduced in the ceremonies announcing and handing over decisions on cadres. Typically, the announcement of a series of key leaders of 102 wards, communes, and special zones on June 30; the decision to appoint and designate nearly 200 personnel as directors, deputy directors, heads of departments, deputy heads of departments... of provincial agencies and units on the evening of July 1. These teams all meet the conditions and standards to be appointed, some are transferred from one agency to another, from one position to another.

Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Tien Hai advised: “The first thing I wish is that each cadre (first of all, the leaders) must practice and perform their roles and tasks well in the direction of serving the people; be exemplary in activities, lifestyle and work, to run the organization, agency and unit well. Second, I hope that you comrades will truly become the center of internal solidarity, regardless of whether you are an An Giang or Kien Giang cadre, a local or another local, or a person from one agency to another. We must truly build internal solidarity, truly be the source of strength to carry out the task. Without solidarity, nothing can be done.”

Along with that, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai also requested each individual to continue to practice and improve their professional qualifications, expertise, leadership experience, and management of assigned fields, with the spirit of "dynamism, responsibility, and the highest creativity", as General Secretary To Lam said "Every working day is a day of creation". After the merger, An Giang province opens up great opportunities, great space, great potential, great development conditions, requiring cadres to have deeper, broader, and more creative thinking and vision; apply flexibly but always adhere to Party regulations, State laws, and specialized regulations as basic principles. In particular, leaders of agencies and units need to promote the application of science and technology , especially digital technology, in performing tasks, building digital government, digital society and digital citizens, closer to the people, meeting the development requirements of the province in the new period... On July 1, many Zalo groups were created, connecting each group of Party leaders, government, and commune-level Party secretaries, forming a faster, more timely information channel, reaching all border areas and islands...

A lot of determination has been spread, "winding up" ready to carry out new tasks in the new period.
