Cameras, camcorders and components continue to grow in exports

According to the Center for Industry and Trade Information ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ), exports of cameras, camcorders and components in September 2024 decreased by 6.8% compared to the previous month and decreased by 21.5% compared to September 2023.

However, in the first 9 months of 2024, exports of this group of goods still increased sharply by 30% compared to the first 9 months of 2023, reaching nearly 6.15 billion USD, accounting for 2.05% of the total export turnover of all kinds of goods of the whole country.

Vietnam's camera and camcorder products are mainly exported to the Chinese market, accounting for 57.5% of the total export turnover of this product group of the country, reaching nearly 3.54 billion USD, an increase of 39.4% compared to the first 9 months of 2023;

Of which, in September 2024 alone, exports to this market reached 389.17 million USD, down 3.4% compared to August 2024 and down sharply 37.8% compared to September 2023.

Following the main market of China is the US market with 902.32 million USD, up 28.8%, accounting for 14.7%; followed by South Korea with 349.98 million USD, down 8.1% over the same period; Hong Kong (China) with 289.75 million USD, up 20.5%.

In general, exports of cameras, camcorders and components in the first 9 months of 2024 to most markets increased in turnover compared to the first 9 months of 2023.

Cameras, camcorders and components are currently one of Vietnam's key products. In 2023, exports of this product group brought in more than 7.6 billion USD, up 19.5% over the same period and was the product with the third highest growth rate after vegetables and rice.

However, according to experts, one of the challenges for cameras and camcorders is that consumer preferences have gradually shifted to smartphone cameras. Therefore, global digital camera shipments have seen a decline in sales over the past decade.

To maintain their position and development potential, experts recommend that manufacturers focus on investing in improving product quality and production capacity to meet the increasingly demanding demands of the international market.

Technological innovation also plays an important role in creating highly competitive products and meeting diverse consumer needs.
