According to Xinhua, Lebanon's Ministry of Public Health has just announced that the cholera outbreak in the country has ended, with no new cases recorded since late February.

The ministry said in a statement that the latest case of cholera was reported more than 12 weeks ago. The ministry will continue to monitor the cholera situation through active surveillance and intensify public awareness campaigns about the disease, the Lebanese state news agency reported.

During the cholera outbreak that began on 6 October 2022, Lebanon recorded a total of 617 cases. In November 2022, the UN International Coordination Group for Vaccine Supply provided Lebanon with more than 600,000 doses of cholera vaccine. These vaccines were distributed to displaced people and local communities in cholera hotspots and outbreak-affected areas, meeting approximately 90% of vaccination needs.
