Memories of writing career

Every time June comes, my heart is filled with joy and excitement. Because June has June 21 - Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day - a day that millions of journalists' hearts always turn to when they are reminded of. Although I am an outsider, I have had years of writing with many dear and sweet memories.

I started writing very early. When I was still in school, I sent articles to the Youth Union newspaper. At that time, the articles I wrote were just small notes, reflecting daily school life. I wrote them on blank student paper, folded them neatly, put them in envelopes and sent them to the editorial office. The letters were sent without any response. I don't know what motivated me, but I didn't give up. I continued to write and send them. Then one day I opened the newspaper and was so happy when an article with my name on it was published. I shouted with joy and ran to show it to my friends and teachers. The joy was even greater when I was recognized by the school before the flag-raising ceremony.

Less than a month later, I received a royalty slip from the post office . I still remember clearly that the editorial office paid me seventy thousand dong for the article. That was also the first money I earned. I treasured it, cherished it, and spent it wisely. I used some of it to treat my friends, and the rest to buy envelopes and stamps to write and send out gradually. And not long after that, I had another article published in the newspaper. My happiness was still intact as at the beginning. I received a letter from an editor in the editorial office, encouraging and guiding me on how to write well and to sharpen my pen. I was very grateful from that very beginning.

Coming to the writing profession, I realized that this profession requires a sharp mind, creative thinking, and especially patience. I cannot follow a rut but have to explore many corners, although the topic is the same, the implementation must be unique and different to attract readers. Even if it is just a small news article. Be patient in each of your words. Are my words accurate? Use words to reflect the most objective way possible. Although I know that each article sent to the editorial office, editors and editorial secretaries must read, edit and review. But as a writer, you cannot be careless with your words. I learned to wait patiently, learned to accept failure when my topic and article are not approved. And I also realized that writing is not about writing about hot and sophisticated topics to be excellent, but writing from simple things that reach readers is also a great success.

I remember the time when I always held a small notebook and a pen in my hand, wherever I went I would take notes of interesting ideas and topics. Being called a child journalist by everyone made me feel extremely proud. My happiness was that my articles were well received by everyone. There were compliments and criticisms, but they were all positive. Thanks to writing, I have more friends. There are friends who are hundreds of kilometers away but still keep in touch, talk and progress to a close friendship.

Later, when I went to university, I changed my career path, not pursuing journalism as I had dreamed of when I was young. I thought that my writing career would fade away at that time, but no, once again my passion for writing rose again. I became more active in the media department at my faculty and school. And gradually continued to collaborate with many of my favorite newspapers. Again diligently studying, keeping up with trends, I continued to explore each word, patiently searching for topics, creating...

It has been almost twenty years since I picked up a pen and published my first article. Whether I have succeeded or failed in my writing career, I still remember the six golden words that any writer takes as a guideline: “Sharp pen, pure heart, bright mind”. I am grateful for those years that created a beautiful youth in my life!
