The 2025 high school graduation exam has ended. This is the first year of implementing the exam according to the 2018 General Education Program (GEP) for grade 12. Right from the beginning of the school year, the Department of Education and Training has directed schools to develop a review plan for 12th graders in each specific stage to improve the quality of passing the high school graduation exam and registering for admission to universities and colleges. Before the exam took place, at high schools, vocational education centers and continuing education centers in the province, according to reporters, schools focused on reviewing for 12th graders, especially dividing students into review streams according to each elective subject registered for the exam and compulsory subjects.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training, schools and educational institutions also organize mock exams to evaluate and classify students at each time, and propose reasonable exam preparation solutions. Before this important exam, grade 12 students also try their best to study for the best results.

Mr. Ngo Vu Quoc, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai City People's Committee, Deputy Head of Lao Cai City Examination Steering Committee said: Lao Cai City has the largest number of examination sites and candidates in the province (6 examination sites and more than 2,800 candidates). The city is also the only locality with examination sites for independent candidates. Therefore, in order for the examination activities in the area to take place safely, seriously and effectively, the city has made plans early to ensure all conditions for exam preparation, and at the same time, has prepared many options for organizing the exam so as not to be passive if any unexpected situations occur.

Ensure safety, seriousness, and compliance with exam regulations

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place over 4 days (June 25-28), with June 28 being the backup exam day. The whole province has more than 9,000 candidates taking the exam for high school graduation and university and college admission. The whole province organizes 1 exam council with 27 exam sites and 398 exam rooms. The implementation of exam room regulations and discipline at all exam sites is fully and seriously implemented.

Candidates must be present on time to complete the procedures for the exam.

At the end of the exam, Nguyen Thuy Giang, who took the exam at Lao Cai High School for the Gifted, shared: "During the exam days, I and other candidates in the exam room always arrived on time and took the exam seriously. Because I reviewed carefully, I did quite well in my exam subjects."

According to the Lao Cai Newspaper reporters at the province's examination sites, the working atmosphere during the examination sessions was urgent and serious. The developments at the examination sites were updated regularly. The inspection and supervision of the preparation for the examination, the organization of the examination, and the compliance with regulations at the examination sites by the Provincial Examination Steering Committee and the Department of Education and Training were carried out according to plan.

In order for the exam to take place safely and seriously, the Provincial Steering Committee for the Exam has thoroughly instructed all exam invigilators, service and security staff at the exam sites to enhance their sense of responsibility and avoid negligence during the exam. Thanks to that, the 2025 High School Graduation Exam in the province took place successfully, safely, seriously, in accordance with regulations, with no cases of candidates and exam invigilators violating exam regulations.

Many lessons learned

This is the first year that the Ministry of Education and Training organizes exams according to the 2018 General Education Program for 12th graders. In addition, there are also candidates taking the exam according to the 2006 General Education Program (independent candidates).

According to many teachers and candidates, this year's high school graduation exam has many innovations in accordance with the spirit of the 2018 General Education Program and closely follows the sample exam. The exam has a high level of differentiation, increasing application and connection to reality. Therefore, through the exam, teachers and students of schools also have an opportunity to better understand the structure of the new exam, thereby making changes and orientations in teaching, learning and exam review at school in the coming school years.

Organizing a 2-in-1 exam (taking exam results for graduation and college and university admission) right in the locality creates convenience for candidates and their families as they do not have to travel far, reducing pressure on living, accommodation... but also poses many problems for localities regarding exam organization, exam security, food hygiene and safety, traffic safety and many other conditions.
