Women's Union members of Thuy Luong ward participate in volleyball competition

Every afternoon, Ms. Tran Thi Xuan, Group 6, Phu Bai Ward, Huong Thuy Town, and her sisters go to the field to practice. “Volleyball is not a popular sport here, so when the club was first established, only a few members participated. But when they saw the benefits of this sport, many members began to get acquainted and practice. Gradually, for us, volleyball is not only a passion but also a sport to improve health and relieve stress after a hard day's work,” Ms. Xuan said.

Not only practicing for fun and entertainment, the volleyball club of group 8, Phu Bai ward also regularly participates in competitions and exchanges with other volleyball clubs in the town.

Although she has not been familiar with volleyball for long, Ms. Le Thi Sen, Group 8, Phu Bai Ward, has hardly missed any session. “Playing volleyball is really useful. Volleyball is a sport that involves almost the whole body, so it helps us release energy and improve our health very well. We only take a break on rainy days, otherwise, the members of the club regularly participate in practice,” Ms. Sen said.

Ms. Vo Thi Thao Nguyen, President of the Women's Union of Phu Bai Ward, said: From a club of the Women's Union of the ward with more than a dozen members, the branches have now established 5 volleyball clubs with more than 50 members participating. Usually after 5 p.m. every day, women gather on the fields to practice and have fun for 1-2 hours. This sport also attracts students and young people in residential groups to practice and compete with each other, very happily and enthusiastically.

Not only in Phu Bai Ward Women's Union, the volleyball movement is also expanded by Thuy Luong Ward Women's Union and some localities, attracting members to participate.

The Women's Union of Thuy Luong Ward also organizes exchanges and volleyball competitions during holidays. Currently, 7 branches of the Women's Union of the Ward have established volleyball clubs and all clubs practice very enthusiastically and diligently.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tram Anh, Vice President of the Women's Union of Huong Thuy town, said: "To contribute to promoting the movement of health training among women members, all levels of the union from the town to the grassroots have been organizing competitions and exchanges of folk dance and sports. Through the competitions and exchange programs, it has contributed to strengthening the propaganda work among cadres, women's union members and people about the benefits of physical exercise to improve health. From there, mobilize members and women to actively participate in art forms, physical activities and sports suitable for training. Many women have chosen their favorite sport, with the motto "exercising is not only to maintain health but also a way to beautify".

After practice hours, club members also disseminate knowledge about reproductive health care, family planning, environmental sanitation, building a "5 no, 3 clean" family... for members.
