According to witnesses and historical records, from March 21 to 23, 1968, while stationed in Dong Ho hamlet (Hien Luong village, Binh Hoa commune, now Binh Giang commune), a special forces company of Team 2 of Thang Binh District Military Command coordinated with local armed forces and people (about 25 households) to participate in fierce resistance in the tank sweep of the US-puppet army.

In this unequal battle, 40 special forces soldiers and some local people heroically sacrificed their lives. Although they did not win, the special forces unit and the people of Dong Ho hamlet destroyed 3 tanks, killing and injuring many enemies.

The fierce resistance of the army and people in Dong Ho hamlet made a big splash in the struggle against the US-puppet regime at that time in the homeland of Thang Binh.

In order to commemorate the heroic sacrifice of the special forces soldiers of Team 2 of Thang Binh District Military Command and the people of Dong Ho hamlet, Binh Giang commune and the Hien Luong village executive committee mobilized more than 205 million VND to build a memorial stele in Hien Luong village.

After nearly 5 months of construction, the stele house with a total area of ^150m2 has been completed. This will be a red addressto educate the younger generation about the heroic tradition of the army and people of Thang Binh district in the struggle against the US to save the country.
