This afternoon (June 25), nearly 99,000 candidates in Ho Chi Minh City went to 171 testing locations to complete procedures for the 2025 high school graduation exam. At the testing location of Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School (District 10), there was a special candidate who lost all four limbs - Nguyen Gia Lam, a student of Dien Hong Secondary School - High School (District 10).

Since birth, Lam was unfortunately born with a congenital heart disease. At the age of 2, Lam had to undergo surgery. However, complications after surgery forced the young man to have both arms and legs amputated to save his life.

From childhood to adulthood, every day he was accompanied and taken care of by his twin brother Gia Hung, from eating, dressing to taking him to school. Having lost all four limbs since childhood, Lam constantly trained to be able to master daily activities, such as using the phone and computer with flexible elbows to minimize support from relatives.

At school, the male student always received encouragement and enthusiastic help from teachers and friends. It was this loving environment that gave Lam the strength to overcome his inferiority complex, live optimistically and study more actively.

"I am no longer self-conscious about my body, because I am always surrounded by people who love and trust me. That is a great source of strength for me to confidently enter this year's graduation exam," Gia Lam said.

The male student cherishes the dream of studying Graphic Design at a university. The reason Lam chose this major is because he loves jobs that require creativity, instead of repeating fixed operations every day. "For me, the most important thing is to be able to graduate from university and find a stable job," Lam expressed.

Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Nhan, Head of the examination site at Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School, said that in the case of Gia Lam, the examination site will be arranged in a backup examination room, with two invigilators and one supervisor like other examination rooms. For Literature, Lam said that students can do the test themselves, but for multiple-choice subjects, the invigilators will help.

The testing site will also be equipped with cameras and recording devices to ensure compliance with the Ministry of Education and Training 's testing regulations. In addition, to assist Gia Lam in moving, the testing site has arranged a volunteer to carry male students to the testing room and bring them back after each test.
