Opening of the chess tournament for all ages in Kien Giang province

(KGO) - Over 100 players from 14 units in the province competed in the Kien Giang Province Chess Tournament for all ages in 2025.

On June 4, at the Kien Giang Provincial Multi-purpose Gymnasium, the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang Province coordinated with the Kien Giang Chess Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the Kien Giang Provincial Chess Tournament for all ages in 2025.

The tournament gathered over 100 athletes from 14 chess clubs in districts and cities in the province to participate; competing in standard chess in 3 age groups from 6 to 12, 13 to 17 and the championship group from 18 years old and up.

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Kien Giang province, Tran Nguyen Ba, said the tournament aims to continue responding to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho".

At the same time, create a healthy and useful playground for students, teenagers, officials, civil servants, and workers who are passionate about chess to compete and learn from experience; contribute to promoting the widespread development of this sport practice movement in the province.

This is also an opportunity for the organizing committee to discover chess talents and promptly train them to join the province's chess talent team in the coming time.
