International visitors to Vietnam recover 66% compared to before Covid-19

Regarding the recovery level compared to before the pandemic, it is noteworthy that 5 markets in the first 6 months of 2023 exceeded the 2019 level, including: Cambodia (338%), India (236%), Laos (117%), Thailand (108.4%) and Singapore (107.4%). There are 2 markets that are close to the 2019 level: the US (95%), Australia (92%). In addition, South Korea, the UK, Germany and France all recovered well. The Chinese market has only recovered 22.4% due to the reopening of group tours to Vietnam since March 15, 2023.

South Korea continues to be the largest market for visitors in the first half of 2023 with 1.6 million arrivals (28%). China ranks second, while the US ranks third.

In 2023, the tourism industry aims to welcome 110 million tourists, including about 8 million international visitors and 102 million domestic visitors. Total revenue from tourists is about 650,000 billion VND.
