PSG plans to change home stadium. |
According to Le Monde , the plan to build a new stadium was pushed forward after Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced that she could not sell Parc des Princes to PSG. This forced Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) - PSG's owner - to consider other locations, even leaving the capital Paris to find a new sustainable direction.
The two potential sites under consideration are Massy in the south of Paris and Poissy in the west, where the club currently has its training centre. The latter is preferred because PSG has identified a suitable site, owned by the Stellantis automotive group, for a 90,000-seat stadium, which would be the largest in France if completed.
In addition to the stadium, PSG is also expected to develop a comprehensive real estate project following a modern model similar to the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles (USA), aiming to combine sports , commerce and entertainment, which is a trend at the world's leading stadiums.
“Owning your own stadium is no longer a wish, but a necessity. Every top European club operates on this model. PSG’s economic competitiveness depends on having a real home of its own,” a PSG insider stressed.
A final decision is not expected until autumn 2026, but leaving the Parc des Princes would be a huge shock to fans. However, the club's board seem ready to sacrifice sentiment for a more independent, modern and sustainable future.
