Mr. Le Hoang Chau, Chairman of HoREA, said that commercial banks will work until 8:00 p.m. today, Friday, December 29, and will start the New Year holiday from December 30.

Since December 31, 2023 is the last day of the accounting year, the planning year, many businesses need to conduct credit transactions to strive to complete their revenue plans and signed economic contracts. In addition, localities also need to disburse public investment capital for 2023.

But because December 30 and 31, 2023 fall on Saturday and Sunday, Mr. Chau proposed that the Prime Minister consider directing the State Bank and the State Treasury to request commercial banks and the State Treasury to still work tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, December 30 and 31, 2023.

This helps businesses with transaction needs to have 2 more trading days and provinces and centrally-run cities have 2 more days to disburse public investment capital and then cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers who have to work overtime will be given compensatory leave.
