In the context of the increasing demand for green, economical and convenient transportation, especially in crowded urban areas, Honda Vietnam officially launched the first electric motorbike model produced domestically by the company: Honda ICON e: - a model aimed at students and young working people who need a compact, easy-to-use vehicle that does not require a driver's license and has low operating costs.

Compact, friendly, suitable for Vietnamese body shape

Honda ICON e: has overall dimensions of 1,796 x 680 x 1,085 mm, weighs only 89 kg - significantly lighter than popular scooters such as Honda Vision. The saddle height is 742 mm, suitable for people with small stature, especially female students or first-time motorbike users.

The design of the car is minimalist, but modern, neat and easy to sympathize. With an appearance smaller than Vision, ICON e: can easily maneuver in alleys, apartment basements or school grounds. Despite its small size, the sitting position is still optimized by Honda in an ergonomic direction, giving a natural and comfortable feeling of control even when operating for a long time. The legroom is just right, the upright sitting position helps to reduce shoulder fatigue and back pain, which is rare in compact urban electric vehicles.

''No driver's license required'' legal transportation solution for students

One of the most outstanding features of ICON e: is that users do not need a driver's license. Thanks to the use of a 1.5 kW electric motor and a maximum speed of only 49 km/h, ICON e: belongs to the electric motorbike segment under 4 kW according to current regulations, people aged 16 and over can drive without a driver's license. This is a huge advantage in the context that many students want to own a personal vehicle but cannot yet take the driver's license test.

Although only at the “just enough” level, the operating parameters of the ICON e: are still remarkable. The vehicle uses a motor located on the rear wheel with a maximum torque of up to 85Nm, equivalent to or higher than many other urban electric vehicles. When accelerating from a red light or passing other small vehicles, the ICON e: feels smooth, stable and flexible enough to move in crowded urban environments.

Stable operation, removable battery for easy charging

The vehicle is equipped with a 30.6 Ah lithium-ion battery, located under the footrest. This position helps lower the center of gravity and is convenient for disassembly, very suitable for people living in apartments or boarding houses without power outlets next to the vehicle.

The battery weighs about 10 kg, can be carried and charged with 220V household electricity. Full charging time is about 7.5 hours, from 30% to 70% takes only about 3.5 hours. A full charge allows the vehicle to operate about 71 km in ideal conditions, enough for 2-4 days with normal travel intensity (15-25 km/day).

The battery meets IP67 waterproof standards, can withstand light rain or short-term shallow flooding. The modular design makes maintenance and replacement easy and facilitates the battery rental model, a modern trend that is popular worldwide.

Minimalist, convenient design

Despite being in the popular segment, Honda still equips the ICON e with valuable convenience features. The entire lighting system uses LED technology, including headlights, taillights and daytime running lights. The LCD speedometer screen is clearly arranged, displaying all basic information such as speed, battery level, and journey.

Even in the popular segment, Honda still equips the ICON e with valuable, simple and easy-to-use convenience features.

Under the seat is a 26-liter storage compartment, more spacious than many electric vehicles in the same price range, enough to hold a backpack, raincoat or 13-inch laptop. In addition, the vehicle also has two small storage compartments in the front with a USB charging port, convenient for those who need to charge their phones while traveling. These small but useful details show that Honda has listened to the real needs of young users.

Basic safety equipment

ICON e: uses front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, a familiar configuration on small urban vehicles. Although there is no ABS system, with a maximum speed of only 49 km/h and traction controlled smoothly by the electric motor, the vehicle's braking system is safe enough for daily use. Actual operation shows a stable braking feel, without jerking or being too late, very suitable for new drivers or women.

Battery rental model

Instead of selling the battery with the vehicle, Honda applies a battery rental model through a system of 132 HEAD stores nationwide. Users only need to deposit 2 million VND/battery and pay a monthly rental fee: 343,637 VND (8% tax) or 350,000 VND (10% tax). The 6-month rental package comes with an additional 1 month of free use.

This cost is equivalent to the cost of gasoline for popular scooters, but in return, users do not have to worry about battery life, replacement costs or component maintenance. When the battery fails, HEAD will handle it, simple and convenient. This is a suitable solution for young people who love technology but do not want to have a "headache" with the technical aspect.

Price and warranty policy

Honda ICON e: is distributed in three versions: Premium: 26.9 million VND. Special: 27.1 million VND. Sport : 27.3 million VND.

The price includes the body and charger, excluding battery rental costs. The vehicle is warranted for 3 years with unlimited mileage, with a commitment to buy back within 3 years if the customer wants to change the vehicle, creating a clear and transparent product life cycle, especially useful in the young electric vehicle market in Vietnam.

Overall, the Honda ICON e: is not a vehicle for all purposes, not suitable for those who travel long distances every day, climb passes or carry heavy loads regularly. But for the target user group of students, office workers living and working within a radius of 5-10km, the ICON e: is truly an economical , convenient and modern solution.

ICON e: is Honda's strategic step in the electrification of vehicles in Vietnam, opening the trend of using smart electric vehicles.

With a compact design, simple operation, no driver's license required and reasonable cost, ICON e: is Honda's strategic step in the electrification of vehicles in Vietnam - opening the trend of using smart, environmentally friendly electric vehicles in the near future.
