According to Engadget , the leak includes more than 43GB of backup files that LockBit said it stole from Boeing. As of the morning of November 14, Boeing's service website was still down, and a notice posted on the site acknowledged some cyber incidents affecting Boeing's distribution and parts business, but the company insisted that it did not affect the safety of its aircraft.

Boeing data released by LockBit for 'ignoring negotiation efforts'

“In connection with this incident, a ransomware group has released information they claim to have taken from our systems,” a Boeing spokesperson said in a statement. “We continue to investigate the incident and will remain in contact with law enforcement, regulators and potentially affected parties as appropriate.”

The incident began on October 27, when LockBit listed Boeing as a victim on its website, saying the U.S. company had until November 2 to negotiate a payment. The group later removed Boeing from its victim list on its website, but then listed it again on November 7, claiming Boeing had ignored its efforts to negotiate. LockBit initially threatened to release 4GB of sample data before deciding to release all the data it had stolen on November 10.

The Boeing backup data released by LockBit includes configuration data for IT management software, audit and monitoring logs, and some Citrix information believed to be related to the previous cyberattack.

According to the FBI, LockBit has grown into a notorious ransomware gang since it first appeared on Russian cybercrime forums in January 2020. There have been about 1,700 attacks in the US linked to LockBit, with companies paying about $91 million in ransom to the gang. Victims in question include the Bank of China - ICBC, TSMC and Canadian book retailer Indigo Books and Music.
