According to information from his family, People's Artist Pham Quang Vinh passed away on the morning of June 12 due to old age, at the age of 81. He had 50 years of service to the country's film and television industry, and was known as a set designer and art designer for many classic Vietnamese films.
People's Artist Pham Quang Vinh was born in 1944 in Hanoi in a family of 8 siblings. His father was painter Pham Hau - one of the first lecturers at the Hanoi Industrial Fine Arts School.
Graduating from the Film Design Artist class at the Vietnam Cinema School in 1964, People's Artist Pham Quang Vinh worked at the Vietnam Feature Film Studio (now the Vietnam Feature Film Studio) and worked as a film art designer.

Since 1967, he has been working as an art designer. He has received 4 individual awards (Best Art Design) at the Vietnam Film Festival in 1988 (for the film "Hoang Hoa Tham") and the Kite Award in 2005 ("Neighbors" and "Tieng gong of destiny"), 2007 (for the film "Hanoi, Hanoi") and 2013 (for the film "Cold Summer").
Many films for which he was in charge of art design are known to the audience such as "Tien tuyen goi," "Ben khong chong," "Truyen fairy tale for 17 years old," "Song o day song," "Chuyen cua Pao" or "Thai su Tran Thu Do"... received the highest awards for their works at the Golden Lotus and Golden Kite awards.
Painter Pham Quang Vinh was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 1993 and People's Artist in 2007. He is also the first film designer to be honored by the Vietnam Film Institute at the special film screening program "The person who gives soul to cinema works."

His wife is actress Meritorious Artist Pham Dieu Thuan, famous for the films "Nguoi Ha Noi", "Mua la roi", "Nhung nong can den dem"... they have two children who are both in the arts.
For over 10 years now, despite his old age and poor health, People's Artist Pham Quang Vinh has regularly updated his personal page. He often posts paintings of countryside landscapes, places he has visited, lived and created with a complete love for painting, cinema...
The funeral for People's Artist Pham Quang Vinh will be held from 7:30 to 9:00 on June 16 at the Funeral Home of the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Hospital, followed by burial at Van Dien Cemetery, Hanoi.
