The FIFA The Best award is voted for by national team coaches, captains and journalists. The Vietnamese team is represented by head coach Kim Sang-sik and captain Do Duy Manh.
According to the vote tally made public by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), coach Kim Sang-sik chose Lionel Messi as the best male player of the year. The remaining two positions were Jude Bellingham and Rodri. The Korean coach ignored Vinicius Junior - the winner of the vote.
In the vote for best coach of the year, Mr. Kim also had a different choice compared to the result. The head coach of the Vietnamese team chose Xabi Alonso - who helped Bayer Leverkusen win the Bundesliga with an unbeaten record - in the number 1 position. Mr. Kim ranked Luis de la Fuente and Carlo Ancelotti in the next 2 positions respectively.
Coach Kim Sang-sik chose Messi as the best in the world.
Meanwhile, Duy Manh chose Rodri, Vinicius Junior and Erling Haaland in the three positions respectively. The captain of the Vietnamese team also did not choose Carlo Ancelotti in the top 3 best coaches of 2024. Instead, Duy Manh's vote listed Lionel Scaloni, Xabi Alonso and Pep Guardiola.
The FIFA The Best 2024 awards ceremony was held in Doha, Qatar on the night of December 17. The title of the best male player in the world was awarded to Vinicius Junior (48 points). Vinicius's biggest mark in 2024 was the double title with Real Madrid. The Brazilian striker contributed greatly to helping the Bernabeu team win La Liga (Spanish national championship) and the UEFA Champions League (European Cup C1).
The FIFA Best award for best coach of the year went to Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian coach led Real Madrid to La Liga and the Champions League. Behind Real Madrid's head coach were Xabi Alonso - who led Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten Bundesliga title - EURO 2024 winner Luis de la Fuente, Pep Guardiola and Lionel Scaloni.
