Taking us to visit the livestock barns of some members of the cooperative, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, Director of the Cooperative, said: Previously, most household raising chickens in the commune raised them on a small scale, so they encountered many difficulties in the stages of: Selecting breeds, feeding, preventing and controlling diseases... With the advice and support of the professional sector, in 2021, the Dong Tao Bach Hong Chicken Cooperative was established. Since its establishment, the Cooperative has expanded production and become a typical cooperative in the province.
In order to improve operational efficiency, the cooperative regularly coordinates with specialized departments to support members in participating in training, visiting and learning chicken farming models in localities inside and outside the province. The cooperative maintains monthly meetings for members to exchange and evaluate livestock farming activities, discuss solutions and development directions suitable for the market, etc. Thanks to that, the cooperative's operations are increasingly effective.
The breed of chicken chosen by the Cooperative is the Dong Tao hybrid chicken. To ensure safety in raising chickens, members plan scientific barn areas, apply biosafety farming and are far from residential areas. formation, the Cooperative's barns are invested in cooling systems, ventilation fans, are cleaned and disinfected periodically; the environment around the barns and roads are sprinkled with lime powder. To increase the resistance of the chickens, Cooperative members regularly feed the chickens with calcium and trace mineral supplements and strictly control the water and food sources provided to the poultry to ensure hygiene. During the raising process, members of the Cooperative keep a care and vaccination diary for easy monitoring. Since applying biosafety farming methods, the Cooperative's chickens have always been healthy, developed well, and the loss rate has decreased.
Identifying breeds is an important step, therefore, in addition to raising commercial chickens, the Cooperative develop breeding chickens to be proactive in producing breeds as well as the quality of breeds. The Cooperative currently has 5 incubators with a capacity of 40,000 eggs/day to hatch breeds, ensuring stable flocks and smooth re-flocking. Up to now, the Cooperative has over 20,000 m2 of livestock barns, with a total flock of nearly 30,000 chickens at this time. Thanks to good breeding techniques, focusing on hygiene, and actively applying disease prevention and control measures, most of the members' breeding models earn profits of 500 million VND/year or more.
Mr. Nguyen Van Binh's family has an area of about 2,000 m2 with a total flock of nearly 6,000 chickens. To improve the efficiency of raising Dong Tao hybrid chickens, in addition to proactively producing breeds, Mr. Binh applies a biosafety farming process. 100% of the floor area of his family's chicken coop is used with biological bedding. After each batch of chickens, the bedding becomes organic fertilizer for crops, the coop is disinfected before releasing a new batch. Quality breeds, food, and drinking water for chickens are all guaranteed to be hygienic, each coop carefully records the release date of the breeds, vaccination date, and feed consumption situation... Thanks to that, compared to traditional farming, applying a biosafety process helps his family increase profits by about 15 - 20%.
LikeMr. Binh's family, for many years now, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien's chicken farm has been known by many people for its quality and reputation. Ms. Lien shared: Since joining the cooperative, I have been shared by members about farming techniques, introduced output and measures to prevent and control diseases for chickens, so I have more conditions to develop production. When I encountered difficulties in capital, the members of the cooperative enthusiastically supported me. Currently, I also receive support from members to introduce and sell products on e-commerce sites. Thanks to effective investment and digital transformation, my family earns about 500 million VND in profit each year.
Always taking the interests of its members as the goal for its operations and development, Dong Tao Bach Hong Chicken Cooperative has affirmed its right direction. On average, the Cooperative sells 60 - 70 tons of commercial chickens and 20,000 breeding chickens per year; the average revenue reaches nearly 10 billion VND/year. According to the assessment and classification of the functional sector, since its establishment, the Cooperative has been classified as having good operations. Currently, the Cooperative creates regular jobs for nearly 20 workers with an income of 7 million VND/person/month or more. In the coming time, the Cooperative will continue to invest, expand, and develop production, striving to have the Cooperative's chicken egg products become OCOP products by 2025.
