Vietnam-Thailand Navy joint patrol

The joint patrol contributes to maintaining security and order in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand, while continuing to promote cooperation, enhancing understanding and mutual trust between the two navies.

On the morning of April 10, Ship Squadrons 261 and 264 of the Vietnam People's Navy Region 5 docked at the port of Region 5, concluding the 49th annual joint patrol with Ship Squadrons 456 and 526 of the Royal Thai Navy.

Previously, from April 8-9, in the waters bordering Vietnam-Thailand, Ship Squadrons 261, 264 and Ship Squadrons 456, 526 conducted a joint patrol according to the Joint Patrol Regulations and established a communication channel between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Thai Navy signed by the Commanders of the two navies on June 14, 1999.

During the patrol, the two sides performed the ASEAN Hello ASEAN sea greeting procedure; practiced hand flags, lights, and whistle signals according to the International Signal Law; practiced target notification by officers on duty; conducted search and rescue drills and implemented the Code of Conduct for Unplanned Encounters at Sea of the Western Pacific Navies (CUES).

During the patrol, through communication channels, the Vietnamese and Thai navies also actively promoted and mobilized fishermen of the two countries to strictly comply with regulations when exploiting seafood at sea and not to violate the sovereignty of other countries.

With careful preparation and close coordination, the 49th joint patrol was a great success, contributing to maintaining security and order in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand, while continuing to promote cooperation, enhance understanding and mutual trust between the two navies.
