At hole 13 (par 3), after a beautiful swing, legendary British golfer Malcolm MacKenzie sent the ball over a distance of 189 yards and straight into the hole. This is the first HIO at the Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam golf tournament 2023, being held in Nha Trang.
Sharing his feelings after becoming the owner of the HIO award, Malcolm MacKenzie said: "I love watching football. When you watch football and see your favorite player score a goal, it feels very exciting. That's how I feel when I get HIO. I've scored about 10 HIOs in my career. This year is my lucky year."
Malcolm MacKenzie is the owner of the first HIO at the golf tournament being held in Nha Trang.
During his illustrious career, MacKenzie played mainly on the European Tour and won the 2002 Novotel Perrier Open de France.
On the first day (November 30) of the official competition round of the Vinpearl DIC Legends Vietnam 2023 tournament, MacKenzie only scored +7, had 8 bogeys and 1 birdie.
On the second day (December 1), the 62-year-old golfer had 7 bogeys after the first 12 holes. However, he created a shining moment when he got a HIO at hole 13, where this golfer took 4 strokes to complete the previous day.
According to the tournament rules, HIOs are placed at holes 3 and 16, applicable to both professional and amateur athletes, with extremely valuable prizes.
Hole 13 was not a hole for hole-in-one, so MacKenzie could not win his dream prize. However, he still received many other valuable prizes from the tournament organizers.
