Pepper price today July 6 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on July 5 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price remains unchanged since yesterday at $7,541 per tonne. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper price remains unchanged from yesterday at $10,187 per tonne.

Brazilian ASTA black pepper prices were unchanged from yesterday at $6,250/tonne.

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price remains unchanged since yesterday at $8,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country's ASTA white pepper price remains unchanged since yesterday at $11,750/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Likewise, Vietnam's white pepper price remains unchanged since yesterday at $8,950/ton.

Pepper exports in 6 months decreased in volume but increased in price

In the first 6 months of 2025, Vietnam exported 124.9 thousand tons of pepper, earning 859.6 million USD. Although the volume decreased by 12.4% compared to the same period last year, the export value increased by 35.7% thanks to the average price reaching 6,881 USD/ton, a sharp increase of 54.8%.

The US, Germany and India are the three largest markets for Vietnamese pepper, accounting for 26.8%, 9.2% and 7.7% of market share respectively. Notably, export turnover to the UK increased 2.1 times, while that to the Netherlands decreased by 12.5%.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), domestic pepper prices are low because people and speculators continue to hold onto their goods, expecting prices to recover better in the third and fourth quarters.

This hoarding mentality has contributed to reducing short-term supply to the market. However, in the world market, pepper prices are still under pressure from the strong US dollar, increasing armed conflicts and high logistics costs.

In the long term, supplies from Brazil and Indonesia will play a key role in price developments. Indonesia is expected to start harvesting in July, while Brazil will enter its next harvest in the states of Espirito Santo and Para in the middle of the year. These factors could continue to weigh on the market if supplies increase rapidly in the coming period.
