Iran-Israel ceasefire: "Boost" pushes pepper prices up 35% in the Middle East
According to the latest report from Ptexim, the strong increase in demand for pepper from key markets such as the US, EU, Middle East and especially China has pushed prices up significantly.
The easing of geopolitical tensions, notably the Iran-Israel ceasefire agreement, has provided a major boost to the market, sparking strong demand from the Middle East – a region that plays an important role in the global pepper market.
The deal is expected to open up a potential market worth $180 million, with demand in the Middle East expected to grow by up to 35% in the last two quarters of 2025.
In addition, preferential tax policies from the US for major markets such as India, China and the EU have contributed to stimulating imports from these regions.
The Trump administration is considering extending or delaying higher import tariffs on goods from several countries that were scheduled to begin in July.
Specifically, on June 26, the White House announced the possibility of delaying tariffs on goods from dozens of countries, strengthening confidence in the international market. This move could delay the implementation of new tariffs, opening up opportunities for bilateral and multilateral trade discussions.
On the supply side, the Brazilian Spice Association has called on businesses to temporarily suspend pepper exports as prices have fallen sharply. This decision has caused global importers to shift to Vietnam – the country currently leading the world pepper supply chain.
Fundamental market indicators suggest that the growth trend will be maintained in Q3 and Q4 2025, with low inventories providing a solid basis for prices to continue to rise steadily.
