Filipe Luis's Brazil side proved their mettle at this year's FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ by knocking out European side Chelsea. The victory not only moved Flamengo closer to the knockout stages but also confirmed that South American sides are not just weak guests at the tournament.
Immediately after the match, Flamengo's X account posted humorous images aimed at Chelsea, including a post about the temperature at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Flamengo's account posted the message: "Too hot for 'Cold' Palmer." This was a play on words to mock the Chelsea midfielder.
Not stopping there, Flamengo continued to provoke Chelsea by replacing the lion image on the Chelsea badge with a character from the movie "A Bug's Life", implying Flamengo's superiority over its opponent. However, after this photo went viral, the Brazilian club quickly deleted it.

This is only the second time a South American team has beaten a European side by more than one goal in the history of the Club World Cup. Previously, only Vasco da Gama had done the same when they beat Manchester United 3-1 in 2000.
Flamengo are top of Group D with six points from two games. They only need a draw in their final match against LAFC in midweek to secure a place in the round of 16.
With an attractive attacking style of play and confidence in every move of the players, Flamengo becomes one of the most worth-watching teams in this FIFA Club World Cup 2025™.
